  • Preventative Maintenance

    Blog | Kim Rider | August 31, 2021

There are many things that require preventative maintenance. Probably the most common is our automobiles. Each automobile comes with a recommended maintenance schedule which includes things like oil and filter changes, transmission service, belt replacement, and tire rotation.

Why does the auto manufacturer make these recommendations? These recommendations are made to ensure the auto runs better and lasts longer. Without this regular maintenance the automobile is more likely to fail and need major repairs.

  • Back to the Beginning

    Devotionals | August 30, 2021

Leading like Jesus does not guarantee that the journey will be easy or that the outcomes will always be the ones for which we hope. On days when the struggles seem to outweigh the benefits, it's a good idea to go back to the beginning. Remember Jesus' journey as a servant leader; remember how He called you; remember His presence with you today. How do these things strengthen you to continue leading in His name?

  • Are You Useful?

    Devotionals | August 27, 2021

Jesus prepared Himself for being used by God. He became part of the world He came to save, filled His mind with Scripture, affirmed His desire to fulfill God’s call in His life, resisted temptation, spent time re-connecting with the Father, and surrounded Himself with a spiritual support community. What are you doing to prepare yourself to be used by God?

Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.—2 Timothy 2:21

  • Are You Eager?

    Devotionals | August 25, 2021

What gets you up and going each day? What inspires you to give your all? What causes you to say yes to sacrifice and surrender? How does your vision of God, your understanding of who He is and how He works, influence your life? Today, this day, ask Him to permeate Your thinking with an awareness of who He is and what He is doing around You.

For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action.—2 Corinthians 9:2

  • From Setback to Comeback

    Blog | Sheryl Giesbrecht | August 24, 2021

Setbacks are part of life. We’ve each experienced delays, faced interruptions, encountered postponements, and suffered disappointment. In fact, Jesus told us to expect trials and tribulation. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

    Setbacks are part of life.

  • An Impossible Task

    Devotionals | August 23, 2021

Has God ever called you to an impossible task? Something that you knew you could not (or cannot) accomplish in your own strength; something that you know will require you to depend wholly on Him. Something that will serve to draw you closer to His side, to seek His wisdom, to cling to Him for strength, and to follow Him more closely. What impossible task is God calling you to today?

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.”—Luke 1:38

  • A Good Receiver

    Devotionals | August 20, 2021

Have you ever known anyone who had a hard time receiving gifts? Whether an expression of gratitude or the offer of help, some people have a hard time receiving. They prefer to be on the giving side of things, perhaps so they won't be indebted to anyone, even God. Through Jesus, God offers a new heart, real life, and the freedom to be more than we ever imagined we could be. Have you received His gift?

  • A Dual Focus

    Devotionals | August 18, 2021

Are you task-oriented or relationship-oriented? Relationships offer opportunities for reflecting the kindness, compassion and wisdom of Jesus. Tasks to be done provide opportunities to serve others at their point of need and to reflect character qualities of integrity and perseverance. Jesus modeled a life that blended a dual focus on accomplishing tasks with highly valuing relationships with God and people. How can you emulate Him today?

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.—Ephesians 2:10

  • Scars (Come with Living)

    Blog | Gilbert Camacho | August 17, 2021

Life is full of storms.  We’ve previously discussed the circumstances that explain life’s storm.  They can be captured in three categories those caused by God, the actions of others or our actions and decisions (August, 2021).  We are in a pandemic and many debate the use of vaccines, wildfires consume the western United States while the extreme drought is happening, historic heat waves spread across the world and climate change solidifies its grip on humanity.
