In Light of Who Jesus Is

In Light of Who Jesus Is

One of the saddest verses in Scripture is John 12:37: “Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.” The crowd’s lack of belief in Jesus stands in contrast to those mentioned a few verses later. This second group was made up of leaders who believed in Jesus, but they were held back by fear and desire for human approval. What tempts you to edge God out of your life and leadership? Whose approval do you seek?

Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved human praise more than praise from God. – John 12:42-43

Prayer: Jesus, You offer light and life and purpose and hope. Lead me to live in light of who You are and to lead in ways that reveal Your goodness and life-changing power. In Your name, amen.
