Servant leaders are not responsible to meet others’ expectations. At times, rather than providing what is asked for, we may need to guide people to develop a new perspective or skillset. At other times, people may want us to meet needs that only God can fulfill, in which case our responsibility is to point them to God. Ask God to help you discern how to respond so that He is exalted.
When [the disabled beggar] saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”—Acts 3:3-6
Prayer: Lord, show me how to meet the needs of those around me in ways that will point them to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
