Affirmation is one of the most basic of human needs. For the servant leader, lasting affirmation can ultimately come only through God’s evaluation of our lives. The Father affirmed His pleasure in Jesus at His baptism, His disciples heard the Father affirm Him on the Mount of Transfiguration, and His resurrection was the Father’s public “Well done!” to Jesus’ life. Do you, like Jesus, value the Father’s affirmation above all else?
He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” —2 Peter 1:17
Prayer: Father, as Your child, I want to live for Your approval and affirmation. Keep the eyes and ears of my heart tuned to Your voice alone. Don’t let me be pulled away by the lure of worldly affirmation. I want to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant” when I see You face to face. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
