Ungodly fear has a way of stealthily and surreptitiously creeping into our thinking, even when we think we are trying to please God. As a result, an honest desire to honor God can change from being a healthy concern to causing undue caution and fearful deliberation. Procrastination and indecisiveness are often telltale indications that fear is clouding our understanding. Ask the Lord to show you where fear may be creeping into your thinking today. What difference would it make for you and others if you feared God alone?
But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.—1 Samuel 12:24
Prayer: Lord, You have done so much for me. You have reached into my life and rescued me from worldly patterns of thinking and living. You have shown me a better way of living, loving, and leading others. Remove unholy fear, and let me live in humble and confident freedom, I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
