Accidents happen, people tell us, and we know it’s true. It isn’t just that we drop things or bump into something. At times we “bump” into other people: emotions come out of nowhere, we speak words that we regret, we inadvertently make mistakes. Accidents cause us to recognize our humanity, our need for grace, and at times, our need for forgiveness—from God, from others, from ourselves. Don’t let pride and perfectionism bar the way to restoration with God and others. Let His grace encourage and strengthen you to keep moving forward.
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.—2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
Prayer: Father, fountain of forgiveness, grace, and restoration, creator of fallible human beings, God who loves without end, help me to seek, receive, and live in grace today. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
