After personally leading a successful campaign to return the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, David “returned home to bless his family” (1 Chron. 16:43). Jesus, in the midst of His suffering on the cross, becoming the means of forgiveness for the sin of the whole world, gave His mother Mary into the care of the disciple whom He loved (Jn. 19:26-27). Are we as focused on living, loving, and leading like Jesus in our family relationships as we are in professional or ministry roles? Jesus clearly was.
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.—1 Timothy 5:8
Prayer: Jesus, as leaders who follow in Your footsteps, help us follow Your example in our personal and family relationships. We want to honor You at home as much as we honor You in public. Open our eyes to how we can bless our families, we pray in Your name, amen.
