Who do you turn to when you need help? Servant leaders look to God for help as they seek to lead like Jesus, and they also learn to depend on others. A leader exalts God by asking for help, partnering with others, giving and accepting mutual support, asking others to pray, and taking godly advice. In contrast, a self-sufficient “know it all” attitude edges God out. The rich young ruler came to Jesus with a question, but refused the wisdom Jesus offered. What about you? Where do you need to ask for help?
Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.—Proverbs 28:26
Prayer: Jesus, keep me from being a foolish, self-sufficient leader, thinking that I have all the answers and don’t need You or anyone else. Open my heart and mind to accept Your wisdom, especially when it comes through other people. Remind me to ask for help today. In Your name I pray, Amen.
