Hagar found herself in desperate circumstances. Running, on her own, trapped in the grip of pride and fear, despairing in her loneliness and hopelessness, she had given up. At this low point of her life, the Lord found her, clarified her identity and direction, and spoke words that restored her. Where do you need God’s intervention to restore your hope?

She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”—Genesis 16:13

Prayer: Lord, the God who sees me, thank You for coming to me in the midst of the challenges that surround me. Thank You for calling me by name, for reminding me that I serve You, and for helping me to clarify Your vision and purpose for me. Thank You for speaking words of hope to me through Scripture. Give me strength to live for You, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
