When is fear not really fear? Ask anyone who struggles with fear of success. Fear of success is insidious. It cripples like fear, but stems from pride. Fear of success claims past success as one’s own, failing to give honor to God and His gifts and sustaining power. Humility acknowledges that all we have and are comes from God, and births confidence that trusts God to accomplish His purposes.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!—Matthew 6:22-23
Prayer: Father, search me today, reveal the truth of my heart to me. Banish fear and pride. Replace falsehood with the light of Your truth, so that I can see clearly. Give me a single focus in life, to live as Jesus’ disciple. In His name I pray, Amen.
