Despite the work that God is doing to transform us into men and women who lead like Jesus, there will be times when we fall short of His example. When this happens, we do well to remember that Jesus not only bought our forgiveness and forgives us, He also models how we are to forgive others. There is nothing we can do to separate us from God’s forgiveness. As those forgiven by Him, let us extend forgiveness to others in Jesus’ name.
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.—Matthew 18:21-22
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for forgiving us when we fail. Make us into a community of forgivers who extend Your forgiveness to one another when we fail. Root out the bitter root of unforgiveness in our hearts, and lead us in Your way for the glory of Your name, amen.
