We all know the story of Jonah, God’s reluctant and rebellious prophet. His attempt to run from God’s call ended in failure and increasingly disastrous situations. At the end of his rope, he called out to God, who had been waiting for Jonah’s call and change of heart. All along, God had been orchestrating events so that Jonah would finally cry out to Him instead of running from Him. Where do you need to call out to God? He waits, ready to answer.
From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry.”—Jonah 2:1-2
Prayer: Help, Lord, I need You! I’m in over my head. Trying to do things my own way doesn’t work. I need help that only You can bring. Save me, set me back on Your track. I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
