“Humility doesn’t mean thinking less of yourself; it means thinking of yourself less.” Take a moment and ponder these words. No matter how long we’ve been on the Lead Like Jesus journey, humility can be an elusive concept. In a world that looks for blessings here and now, humility can appear to be a weak substitute for immediate recognition and reward. Unless, that is, we’re living for an audience of One who sees every thought and understands the motivations of the heart. Who is your audience today?
For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.—Psalm 149:4-5
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the reminder that You are my audience. Renew my perspective on living humbly. Give my strength and encouragement to keep going, with my eyes firmly fixed on You. Let me live in an awareness of Your presence and delight, I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
