God’s cure for hearts of stone is to replace them. He gives His people living, breathing hearts that spread life throughout a person’s entire body. His Spirit breathes life, hope, humility, and confidence. He awakens a desire and a will to live to a higher standard. Don’t ask God to soften your heart. Ask Him to give you a new heart.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.—Ezekiel 36:26-27
Prayer: God, I need a new heart, a new spirit. I need You to replace my heart with Your heart, the heart that beat in Jesus’ breast. I need life through Your Spirit. I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
