Leading like Jesus is counterintuitive to the world’s way of thinking. Just as Paul had to take time to integrate his encounter with Jesus into his previously existing worldview, so we need to take time to integrate Jesus’ perspective into our leadership thinking and practices. As His people, we have constant, direct access to the Father through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Come to Him with your current leadership challenges and get His perspective.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.—John 15:16
Prayer: Father, in Jesus’ name we come, asking that You would transform our leadership perspective. Help us integrate Your call to servanthood into our leadership thinking and practices. Give us wisdom, give us the insight that comes from Your Spirit, we ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
As the verse says, he chose us; given this background, it’s always good to return to the one who chose us. This will help us to understand his perspective and what is expected to build his kingdom. Moreover, when he has purposefully chosen us, he will also provide to deliver his purpose. We need to abide in him and completely surrender our ways to him.
Christ himself is our living example; whenever there has been a need, he took time to pray to his Father. And there have been instances as well wherein the Father himself had vouched for his Son voluntarily.
With worldly knowledge, it’s impossible to comprehend his ways, his thoughts, and his plans for us.
