Jesus’ whole desire was to please His Father. Come what may, His eyes were on His Father. He wanted to see His Father smile, to bring His Father pleasure, to hear His Father’s “Well done!” This focus carried Him through temptation, opposition, and suffering. It kept Him going in the face of hardened hearts and deaf ears that would not receive His message. What is your focus?

Prayer: God, I need You to purify my motivations and intentions, to give me a single focus of pleasing You. I know this is a risky prayer, no matter where I am on the journey of living, loving, and leading like Jesus. But I know, too, that this is the only way forward. Make me like Jesus. Give me a whole heart that is focused on pleasing You, I ask in His name, Amen.
