Psalm 16 begins with David running to God in crisis, crying out for God’s protection. As a leader, it’s good to be reminded that the wise thing to do in crisis is to turn to God for help. David turned to God because he knew who God was, and he knew who he was in relationship to God. The testimony of David’s life bears witness to a living relationship with God, and to a God who desires to help us and to be in relationship with us. Where do you need God’s help today?
Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”—Psalm 16:1-2
Prayer: My God, I look to You because You are God and I am Your child. I need You. Thank You for helping me when I cry out to You and for desiring to live in relationship with me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
