The struggles of living and leading like Jesus can be overwhelming at times: unrelenting pressure, wrestling in prayer, hard choices that must be made, times of self-sacrifice. Peter watched Jesus prepare Himself for the cross, the agony of His prayer, and the nightmare of His arrest and trial. Later in life, perhaps reflecting on Jesus’ time in Gethsemane, Peter urged believers to turn to God when they were experiencing anxiety:
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.—1 Peter 5:7
Prayer: God, Jesus found You sufficient in the face of anxiety and impending suffering. When I face hard times personally and as a leader, thank You for Peter’s reminder to handle my anxiety like Jesus did. I don’t need to pretend it doesn’t exist, I need to give it all to You. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
