Everyone wants to be like the heroes of the faith mentioned in the “Hall of Faith” (Hebrews 11). We aspire to live lives that reveal the great work of God, lives like Abraham and Sarah lived. What we may forget is the condition for living lives of faith, having “confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Abraham and Sarah’s desperate need drove them to a living trust in God’s presence and promises. What are you trusting God for today? Whose example encourages you to trust God?

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.—Hebrews 11:1-2

Prayer: God, thank You for the witness of those who have gone before us. Increase our confidence in You, our assurance that You are leading the way and are at work in our lives. May my life encourage others to place their faith in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
