Jesus’ words regarding how His followers are to lead are clear and unequivocal. We are not to copy the world’s leadership pattern of exercising power and authority for our own benefit. There is to be a clear-cut difference between how servant leaders and self-serving leaders approach influencing others. How will this difference be evident in your leadership today?
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”—Matthew 20:25-28
Prayer: Lord Jesus, may it be evident today that there is only one Lord in my life: You. As I interact with others today, may they sense that they have been in Your presence. I ask in Your name, Amen.
