The world in which we live invites, urges, and ultimately tempts us to look at other people’s lives and model ourselves after them. To let their choices guide our choices, their longings our longings. The temptation is not new; it is the same temptation that Jesus faced throughout His life. Each time, Jesus chose to live His life for God. Who will you live your life for?
Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”—Matthew 4:10
Prayer: Jesus, I am eternally grateful that You chose to live the life Your Father designed You to live. Thank You for facing and resisting the temptation to take Your eyes off the Father and live for Yourself instead of Him. Today, I want to live the life You created me to live, worshiping God and serving Him only. In Your name I pray, Amen.
