When you pray, are you consciously aware of the God with whom you are speaking? If we are not careful, prayer can become a mechanical response, a rote utterance of words, even a wistful wish, instead of the reality of vibrant and intimate communication with a living God. God hears the prayers of His children, but do our prayers reflect our real awareness of communicating with our Heavenly Father?
When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their   prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! —Matthew 6:7-8
Prayer: Father, thank You for reminding me that You are attentive to my words, whether spoken aloud, whispered in my heart, or cried out in great passion. As we talk now, focus my thoughts on Your sufficiency and ability to meet my needs in a way that glorifies You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
