Ezra’s priestly heritage and training in the Law was undergirded by his humble and prayerful approach to leadership. Through His influence with Nebuchadnezzar and the Jewish people, God’s Law was restored and honored among God’s people. While his account in Ezra 7-10 reveals these details, over and over Ezra exalts God, not himself, as the source of his success. What about you? Do you give God credit for the influence He has given you?
… Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the   God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him.—Ezra 7:6
Prayer: God, I exalt You as the source of the influence that I possess. Make me a humble steward of Your gifts. May I be quick to point to You as the reason for my success. In Jesus’ name, amen.
