Jesus gave His life for others. First, He gave Himself wholeheartedly to the Father, and then He gave Himself to reconcile the world to the Father. We are beneficiaries of Jesus’ lifework, and we are called alongside Him to give our lives in the same cause. We do this just as He did, choosing to live our lives for others.
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sin against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.—2 Corinthians 5:18-20
Prayer: God, thank You for reconciling us through Jesus. We are privileged to serve as Christ’s ambassadors in our homes, churches, and workplaces today. Show us how to live for you today, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
