As Paul closes his letter to the Galatian church, he stresses the importance of helping one another stay on track spiritually. In doing so, he refers to the pride that edges God out and keeps us at arm’s length from people. Jesus didn’t have this problem; on the contrary, He made it His mission to help those trapped in sin. When we develop an exalted sense of our own importance, pride cuts us off from humbly following Jesus’ example. How does Jesus want you to follow in His footsteps of helping others?
If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.—Galatians 6:3 NLT
Prayer: Jesus, where would I be if You hadn’t decided to get involved in helping us? Bring me to my senses, and call me back to following Your example. Who do You want me to help today? Show me how to come alongside them, I humbly ask in Your name, amen.
