What nourishes your heart and mind, your soul and spirit? What energizes you, getting you up in the morning and keeping you going in the face of difficulties? Is it pleasure, prestige, power, position? Or is it something greater that will stand the test of time and eternity? Jesus’ disciples were amazed at His focus on the eternal to the exclusion of even basic daily needs.
Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?” “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”—John 4:31-34
Prayer: Father, so tune my heart and will to Yours that all else fades. Draw me out of my comfort zone and into the places where You are at work to draw people to Yourself. Energize me through Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
