There come times when it is apparent that our only hope lies with God. Jesus confessed this clearly at Gethsemane and on the cross, although His whole life demonstrated this reality. He knew that all hope in human relationships or understanding was pointless; only God held the answer to the sorrow and suffering of this world. Jesus has led the way for us even into the darkest parts of life, so we may confidently follow Him into the future, regardless of the challenging circumstances we face.
In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.—Psalm 34:6, 7
Prayer: Lord, on days when it is apparent that our only hope is with You, may we find ourselves encouraged, confident, and hopeful, because You are the living God! Let our lives, like Jesus’ life, reveal a confident hope and expectation in You, amen.
