It is only human to want to know who is in charge in any given setting. Some of us are naturally wired for leadership; others just want to know who is in charge so we can get our marching orders. God is in the business of recalibrating our leadership compass so that it always points to Jesus. He is the leader whose directions we listen for and with whose agenda we choose to align. In which direction is Jesus pointing you today?
“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”—John 12:26
Prayer: God, thank You for recalibrating my heart and mind so that I am attuned to Your Spirit. I hear Jesus say that to serve Him I must follow Him, and Lord, I want to be a better follower. I realize that means laying down my tendency to take charge so that He can lead the way. Help me today to align with Jesus, in whose name I pray, Amen.
