What are you hungry and thirsty for? Hunger and thirst are basic human needs. Likewise, desires for significance and success, acceptance and accomplishment are common to all people. Like food and water, these desires need to be met on an ongoing basis. Servant leaders look to Christ, not other people, to fulfill their desires, which frees them to serve like Jesus. Where will you look for your needs to be fulfilled today?
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.—Matthew 5:6
Prayer: Lord, increase my hunger and thirst for righteousness, for knowing that my life reflects Your way of doing things. It’s easy to try and force my agenda in my own strength. But that isn’t how I want to live, and I know it won’t ultimately satisfy me. Fill me as I hunger and thirst for righteousness, so that I can live for You. I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
