Proverbs speaks often to the motives of our hearts and how actions reveal our hearts. Deceit, the intention to mask our true motives, leads to plotting evil, the very opposite of life and truth. Joy, a sense of deep well-being and celebration, leads to promoting peace within our spheres of influence. What are the benefits to searching our hearts for traces of deceit? God will restore us to peace with Him, fostering joy that transforms our lives and leadership. Each of us has places where we are tempted to self-deception. Which one, deceit or joy, motivates your leadership?
Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.—     Proverbs 12:20
Prayer: Lord, You are able to see the slightest trace of deceit in my heart and in my actions. Show me what You see. Cleanse me. Restore to me the joy of my salvation. Make me a person who promotes peace and well-being through my life and leadership. In Jesus’ name, amen.
