Listen to Jesus telling His disciples that they were not to follow the world’s leadership values or methods. Jesus knew He was teaching them a counter-cultural concept; one that requires intentional realignment of thoughts, values, and interpersonal relationships. He knew His followers would need to be transformed from the inside-out in order to turn the world upside-down. How is He transforming your thinking and relationships?
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.—Mark 10:42-44
Prayer: Jesus, You turned my world upside-down by coming from heaven to serve me in love. God became man, master became servant, and ruler became friend. Turn my heart inside-out, Lord, and transform my thinking. Help me to hear those four important words, “not so with you…instead…” Remake me in Your image, I ask in Your name, Amen.
