Sometimes the servant leader’s journey goes through the wilderness. In the wilderness, Moses heard God’s call and learned lessons that he would need later to lead God’s people through the same wilderness. Jesus voluntarily went into the wilderness to prepare Himself for public ministry, resisting temptation, and being ministered to by angels. What lessons has God taught you through wilderness experiences?

Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.—Deuteronomy 8:2

Prayer: Lord, thank You for faithfully traveling with Your people, making Your home with them, even though they found themselves in the wilderness through disobedience. Thank You for using the wilderness to shape leaders like Moses, Joshua, and Jesus. Shape me, please, and make me a blessing to others who are journeying through the wilderness. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
