“Jesus wept” (John 11:35). Two words, packed with significance. Jesus, the Son of God, was about to raise Lazarus from the dead, and He was overcome with emotion. Servant leadership wasn’t an intellectual pursuit for Jesus; it engaged His whole being. Jesus poured out His emotions in prayer, shared them with His close friends, and expressed them in the midst of serving others. How can you emulate Him?

For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.—Hebrews 2:17

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being the perfect embodiment of a servant leader. Thank You for embracing humanity in every way, including experiencing emotions. Help me to engage emotionally with people, to enter into their lives, and to empathize with their emotions, just as You do with me. Help me to serve from a heart like Yours, I pray in Your name, Amen.
