Leading like Jesus is fundamentally different from servant leadership. Servant leadership is a strategy that anyone can adopt and use for their own purposes. That was not what Jesus did; Jesus didn’t simply adopt a leadership strategy designed to achieve maximum results. Jesus led out of who He was; His heart longed to serve. Motivation is the true test of leading like Jesus. Are you serving because it best accomplishes your purposes, or are you serving others out of a transformed heart, a heart that longs to lead like Jesus?
Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”—John 21:16
Prayer: Jesus, I hear You ask me the same question You asked Simon Peter, “Do you love me?” Let Your love be my heartbeat, so transforming me that I willingly pour myself out for the benefit of others. I pray in Your name today, amen.
