To ask another person for help, for insight into our struggles, requires a relationship of trust. Trust is the outcome of transformed personal relationships. When we serve others with humility, they begin to trust that we are on their side. They begin to believe that we have their best interests at heart. Trust is often built slowly, over a long period of time. It is broken easily when we attack a person instead of helping them attack their challenges. How can you build trust with others today?
Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”— Matthew 17:19
Prayer: Jesus, help me build trusting relationships with people, just like You did with Your disciples. Show me how to best serve those I want to influence. Make me into a person they can trust, so that I can come alongside them and help them overcome their challenges. In Your name I pray, amen.
