“Most of us don’t think of discipline as encouragement.” Would you say that is a fair statement? When you think of the encouraging words that God has spoken to you, does His conviction of sin in your life come to mind? How about His calling you to lay down your pride and exchange it for humility? God’s discipline reflects His relationship with us and His commitment to make us like Jesus. Trust His heart and His purpose.

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he   corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”—Hebrews 12:5-6 NLT

Prayer: Father, thank You for being so committed to shaping me in Jesus’ image that You point out my attitudes and actions that need correcting. I choose to receive Your discipline as evidence of Your great love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
