What do you cherish? To cherish is to value something or someone highly, to hold something close to your heart, to have the object of your affection frequently on your mind, so much so that it changes how you live. The wisdom writers of the Old Testament urge us to value, to cherish, wisdom and understanding from God’s perspective. Our lives reveal what we cherish, whether we consciously put it into words or not. What does your life reveal about what you cherish?

To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. —Proverbs 19:8     (NLT)

Prayer: Lord, You know what occupies my heart and mind, the perspectives that influence and give birth to my words and actions. Replace my self-serving perspectives with godly wisdom and understanding. Transform my thinking as I seek Your wisdom and meditate on Your truth. Lead me to cherish Your thoughts and wisdom above all others. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
