The Lord called Joshua to be strong and courageous. Courage is confidence in action, making choices and taking action in spite of the fear that threatens to hold us back. Courage flows from confidence in who God is and an awareness of His call on our lives. It flows from confidence in the Lord’s presence and promises. Where do you need to act courageously?
No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.—Joshua 1:5-6
Prayer: Lord, You call me to exchange fear for confidence. You have promised that I can be confident in You. Let my life, like Moses’ and Joshua’s lives, prove Your promise. Let my confidence in You come to life in courageous action today. I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
