Do you remember when Peter asked Jesus how many times he needed to forgive? It’s a question that anyone who has been hurt can relate to. Jesus’ answer made it clear that forgiveness is not an option for His followers, especially for those who want to follow in His footsteps as Christ-like servant leaders. Forgiving others keeps our hearts humble, and allows God to use us.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”—Matthew 18:21-22

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for forgiving me time and time again. Help me to extend that same forgiveness and grace to those around me. Help me to make forgiveness a way of life, so that I can remain pliable and useful in Your kingdom. Thank You for not giving up on me; help me to not give up on others. I pray in Your name, Amen.
