Your response to being misunderstood reveals the condition of your heart. Humbly opening yourself up to the scrutiny of the Holy Spirit and accountability to trusted friends can provide needed correction or valuable insight, leading to honest communication and possible reconciliation. Prideful defense of yourself in ways that malign others reveals a need to humbly seek forgiveness and make amends. What do your responses reveal about your heart?

Hear me, Lord, my plea is just; listen to my cry. Hear my prayer—it does not rise from deceitful lips. Let my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right. Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed.—Psalm 17:1-3

Prayer: Lord, probe my heart. Where I need to ask for forgiveness, show me. Where I need to seek reconciliation, give me courage. Where I need to trust You to defend my reputation, let me hide myself in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
