A life of service can be draining, constantly pouring ourselves out on behalf of others. Serving in our own strength will lead to burnout; following Jesus’ example is essential. Only a transformed heart leads to a transformed leadership perspective. Leading like Jesus is sustained by the habits that shaped Jesus’ life: abiding in God’s unconditional love, investing in trusted relationships, and allowing God’s Word to abide in us as we spend time with Him in solitude and prayer. As we live like Jesus, we are empowered to serve others in love, like He did.

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.—Ephesians 5:1-2

Prayer: Father, fix my eyes on Jesus. Keep me from trying to lead like Him in name only. Transform my heart, head, hands, and habits so I live, love, and lead like Him. I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
