Success, like familiarity, can breed contempt. As God hones our skills, giving us success, and vision becomes reality, we may be tempted to forget that God is the giver of our strength, skills, dreams and vision. Prolonged prayer may dwindle to momentary pleas for help as we begin to rely more on ourselves and less on God. Whose dream and strength are you relying on, your own or God’s?

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.—Proverbs 19:21

Prayer: Lord, You created me. You shape my dreams, and You continually craft the circumstances of my life so that You can use me to spread Your kingdom vision and values throughout the earth. I am grateful to belong to You, and honored to be part of what You are doing. All that I am and achieve are because of You. Use me today, I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
