No believer is exempt from temptation, not even servant leaders. Pride can lure us into thinking that we are above temptation, or even into excusing our particular vices as not being as “bad” as sins that others practice. Paul warned against “setting our hearts on evil things”: idolatry, sexual immorality, testing Christ, and grumbling. What is your heart set on?

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.—1 Corinthians 10:12-13

Prayer: God, thank You for being faithful to me and for providing Jesus as the forgiver, cleanser, transformer, and strength of my life. Keep me attentive to the condition of my heart, so that pride does not gain a foothold and I do not fall to temptation.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
