Life is full of paradoxes for Christ-followers: serve to lead, the last are first, the least is the greatest, die to live, and lose to save. What do you stand to lose today by denying yourself and following Jesus? What do you stand to lose by serving others and exalting God instead of yourself? What do you stand to gain?
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”—Luke 9:23-24
Prayer: Lord Jesus, today, help me to keep my eyes on You, my heart tuned to Your Spirit, and to walk in simple obedience. Let me filter all of life through the command to love God and love others. Today I want to lose my life so that I can truly live. In Your name I pray, Amen.
