From an early age, Jesus knew whose He was and who He was. Obstacles, even Mary’s and Joseph’s lack of understanding, didn’t cause Him to question His identity as the beloved Son of God or God’s call on His life. What difference did this make in His leadership? His secure, intimate relationship with the Father made it natural for Jesus to actively and confidently depend upon His Father to meet every challenge that arose. He invites us to follow His example.
When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he was saying to them. —Luke 2:48-50
Prayer: Father God, let our relationship with You and our identity as Your children shape how we lead today. We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
