Rest. For the servant leader, every day offers opportunities to serve others. Yet Jesus calls us, invites us, to follow His example by taking time to rest. Daily rest, Sabbath rest, times of celebration, times of retreat; Jesus understood the value of rest. Do we? Rest restores the soul as the focus shifts from doing to being, from expending effort to receiving fresh energy. How do you cultivate rest in your life?
Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”—Mark 2:27-28
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of rest. Thank You for modeling both a life of service and a life of rest. Restore us today as we rest in Your presence. Let Your Spirit restore our souls with deep assurances of the Father’s love. In Your name I pray, amen.
