Philippians 1: 4-6 NIV “In my prayers for all of you I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

A Christ-like leader is a person of prayer. In the same way that Jesus prayed for his disciples, we should also pray for our subordinates, co-workers, and supervisors. The Apostle Paul followed this example as he prayed for the leaders and members of the churches he planted in Asia Minor. He assures them, “In all my prayers for all of you.” It is a great privilege for leaders to intercede on behalf of others before the throne of grace. Through our relationship with the Father, we can invest spiritually in the lives we are called to lead.

The prayers of a leader are personal. Paul found joy in praying for his partners in Christ. We know there were many times he admonished and corrected these young believers. However, Paul never lost sight of his spiritual connection with his co-laborers. He keenly understood the trials of the Christian life and took every opportunity to faithfully call on God’s promises to grow those under his care.

Today, take a moment to pray with joy for those God has entrusted you to lead.
