Jesus’ resolve to honor the Father was evident throughout His life, from His earliest years to His final moments on the earth. Satan couldn’t deter Him, nor could well-meaning friends or vindictive opponents. In all things, He resolved to honor God and exalt Him only, in spite of temptation, suffering or rejection. How resolved are you to exalt God?
The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”—Luke 4:5-8
Prayer: God, I want to worship You only as Jesus did. Show me how to strengthen my resolve so that I increasingly exalt You each day. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
