Silence is one of the essential components of solitude. First we need to find an environment that is free from distracting sounds. Then we quiet our hearts and minds from the things that would distract us from our Savior’s voice. The pressures and busy-ness of the world clamor from without, temptation and worry clamor within. Yet Jesus longs to meet with us one-on-one. Do you long to meet with Him?

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I   will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.—Revelation 3:20

Prayer: Jesus, I hear Your knock, and I am coming now to open the door to spend time with You. Distractions press in on me from within and without. Clear them away. Lead me to the place of quiet and solitude where I can focus on Your presence and the Spirit’s leading. I ask in Your name, amen.
