  • When the Answers Aren't Easy

    Devotionals | August 13, 2021

Leading like Jesus doesn’t guarantee we have all the answers or that we will always know the steps to take in a given situation. When the pressure builds, we need even greater focus in our communion and communication with the Father. Jesus spent long hours in prayer with His Father throughout His time on earth, from His earliest days of ministry to the final hours of His life. Don’t forego the wisdom, guidance, and encouragement God has for you in times of stress. Be more intentional than ever about connecting with Him in meaningful ways.

  • Grace-based Leadership

    Devotionals | August 11, 2021

The Golden Rule calls us to do to treat others the way we want them to treat us. In essence, it calls us to living a life centered on understanding, forgiving, encouraging, and supporting others. Each of these characteristics describes the way God relates to us and the way Jesus related to His disciples. Jesus says this same grace-based, action-oriented leadership is to characterize us as His disciples. We are to lead from grace, relating to others with the same grace that God has shown us.

  • Two Kinds of Habits

    Devotionals | August 09, 2021

Lead Like Jesus emphasizes two kinds of habits - habits of being and habits of doing. Each is important. Practicing the being habits supports ongoing personal transformation, keeping our hearts humble before God and open to His Spirit’s leading. These spiritual disciplines shape our leadership motivation, point-of-view, and the way we deal with others. As a result, the Spirit increasingly shapes our reactions and responses so that we find ourselves more naturally reflecting Jesus’ leadership style.

  • Whatever

    Devotionals | July 28, 2021

‘Whatever’ is one of those words we hear and say in general ways. Often, it is used in a derogatory sense to criticize another person or to dismiss what people say. Paul uses it very differently from modern culture. He uses ‘whatever’ in the sense of everything. Everything in our lives, He says, is to reflect the reality of the transforming power and presence of our Lord Jesus. Jesus, the first disciples, and the writers of the New Testament would agree with him. Jesus comes to redeem every aspect of our lives. Whatever you do today, remember that you represent Jesus to the world.

  • Words of Value

    Devotionals | July 26, 2021

What if we valued people around us for who they are? What if we accorded people with the same dignity and respect God has showered on us? What if we saw in them the image of God? As we talk with people or tell others about them, what if we affirmed the impact their contributions (real or potential) make? How would making these 'what ifs' a reality transform their lives, your relationships, and the world around you? Who can you love, serve, and affirm today? How can you use your words to make a positive difference in someone else’s life today?

  • Devoted to Prayer

    Devotionals | July 23, 2021

Prayer is not only a habit that sustains us as we lead like Jesus; prayer is one of the most important ways that we can influence others. When we pray for those we lead, we are speaking to the One who has the ability to meet them at their point of need. By praying for them, we are inviting God’s influence, His wisdom, strength, and encouragement, into their lives. Who is God prompting you to pray for? Will you join Him in the work He wants to do in shaping them to live, love, and lead like Jesus?

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.—Colossians 4:2

  • Thirsting for Encouragement

    Devotionals | July 21, 2021

Where do you look for encouragement, especially in tough times when everyone is looking to you as the leader to keep a positive outlook? In times that test our faith and convictions, we need to know that we are where God has placed us, doing what He has called us to do, depending on Him every step of the way. As we seek to follow Him, He will show us the path He has for us and give us the encouragement we thirst for. Seek His face today.

  • Knowing When to Speak

    Devotionals | July 19, 2021

A hallmark of Jesus’ leadership was that He always seemed to have the right words at the right time. He didn’t speak too much or too little, nor hold back when it was time to speak up. His words of wisdom brought light and life to His hearers. What can be said about your words?

“For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”—John 12:49-50

  • Words of Encouragement

    Devotionals | July 09, 2021

Encouragement is a universal need in the world. Whoever we meet, wherever we go, during good times and bad times, task-specific and personal encouragement always reaps powerful leadership dividends. Wise leaders know this. They take personal responsibility for motivating and encouraging those they lead. Sometimes people need words of affirmation, knowing that we understand and believe in them. Other times, they may need us to give instruction or to help them solve problems. Whatever the need, effective leaders discern the best way and time to encourage others. Who will you speak to today?

  • Loving Like Jesus

    Devotionals | June 21, 2021

Grace, forgiveness, community, and encouragement are expressions of God’s love poured out to us. Stop and think: What difference do these expressions of His love make in your life? Who would you be without His love? Who are you becoming because of His love? How are you relating to others differently because of how you have experienced His love? Jesus had one overriding commandment for His disciples, that they would love one another as He had loved them.
